Truck Loading Flares
Some production facilities lack a pipeline to move the product and elect to truck the condensate out of the storage tanks. HERO Truck Loading Flares are designed to safely dispose of the vapors from the truck loading operation.
Because truck loading vapors may contain air, it is possible that the hydrocarbon/air mixture may be in the flammable region. A robust and fool proof safety system is crucial to prevent flashback from the flare to the truck rack.
Loading high vapor pressure condensate usually requires a smokeless flare to meet EPA regulations. A small air blower keeps the flame burning clean and smoke free.
Many terminals have unattended operations. The flare must reliably start to avoid inconvenient operator call-outs. Automatic spark ignited pilots provide reliable pilot ignition during all weather conditions. Drivers do not need to wait for operators to manually ignite the flare.

Specific Features and Benefits
Proven Safety System – HERO terminal flares feature multiple safety levels. From the flare tip to the inlet valve, the HERO terminal flare is designed with SAFETY FIRST.
Anti-flashback Flare Tip – Anti-flashback flare tips are the first safety level. These tips include stainless steel inserts to prevent flame burnback during the low flows at the start and end of loading.
Detonation Arrestor – Detonation arrestors are flame arrestors on steroids. These devices are more expensive than flame arrestors, but provide longer protection against flame flashback. Detonation arrestors meet rigorous US Coast Guard regulations. These regulations do not apply to truck loading operations, but do set a legal standard for flashback protection.
Inlet Isolation Valve – Safety literature confirms that most accidents happen during startup and shutdown. The HERO terminal flare are automatically isolated from the vent header during these common operations.
Smokeless Operation – EPA 40CFR60.18 limits the duration that a flare is allowed to smoke. High vapor pressure condensate will easily exceed these limits without additional controls. The HERO terminal flare includes a low pressure blower to keep the flame clean and your environmental department happy.
Meets EPA Regulations – 40CFR60.18 has specific requirements for flare and ignition systems. Most states have adopted these regulations without alteration. HERO tank battery flares meet the EPA regulations for flame stability and pilot monitoring. We guarantee 98% or better hydrocarbon destruction efficiency.
Pilot Stays Lit - This pilot lights instantly and won't go out! The internal sparker is always active. Every 3-4 seconds, the pilot spark activates even if the pilot is lit.
Low Pressure Drop – The HERO terminal flares will not produce excessive back pressure on trucks.
Shop Tested Control System – You want it to work the first time... and so do we. HERO wires each system together and verifies that it works before it leaves our shop. Wire ends are labeled for convenient field re-assembly.
